Some fee schedules facing cuts; proposals for disability cases could result in overcharges, ABA argues

Article Abstract:

The ABA is urging rejection of a proposal changing how the Social Security Administration pays legal fees in disability insurance actions, warning that the proposal might decrease the degree of access to the legal system. The ABA maintains the current system not only works well but prevents the overcharging of claimants. The government maintains the changes proposed would also prevent overcharging and would save administrative costs. The present system and proposed changes are detailed.
