Tender traps; with more young lawyers tripped up by ethics problems, here are some hazards to avoid

Article Abstract:

An increasing number of young lawyers are committing ethical violations in their pressure to gain prestige and pay back their law school loans. Young and inexperienced sole practitioners are in particular danger as they have nobody to fall back on if they take on more work than they can reasonably handle.Young associates who notice ethical misconduct have few options, and these are relatively unappealing. If they report the misconduct to disciplinary authorities, they must remember that the rules do not protect those complying with the reporting requirement, so their action may have a negative effect on their careers.

Paper pusher; free tabloid on legal topics gets lawyer's circulation going

Article Abstract:

Suburban Detroit lawyer Todd L. Levitt publishes a free newspaper focussing on legal tips for Michigan nonlawyers. Although the newspaper articles are written by lawyers and judges, the target audience is the general public and articles are written in language they can easily understand. The newspaper includes an advice column, profiles of local judges, and multiple choice questions culled from actual state bar examinations.
