The importance of image: choosing office space

Article Abstract:

Office location and office appearance can be as important as the quality of the legal work. When choosing an office location, factors to consider include a need for proximity to the courthouse and a need for a convenient location if there is much client traffic. A real estate broker can be helpful. The office likewise should reflect the anticipated preferences of attorneys and clients, and an architect or space planner can make this part of the job much easier. Landlords can often help find space planners.

Relocations pose custody concerns; when custodial parents try to move away with the children, non-custodial parents may protest - but with infrequent success

Article Abstract:

Custodial parents' decisions to move away from a spouse with visitation rights raise a variety of issues that center on the child's best interest. Varing state statutes and case law make specific outcome predictions difficult, but most states bar relitigation of custody and may not consider a move to constitute a substantial change in circumstance justifying a change to the custody award or agreement. Divorcing spouses and their counsel should consider and prepare through agreement for future moves.

Space odyssey: law offices for the 21st century; the age of technology has significantly transformed office renovations and relocations

Article Abstract:

Law office automation includes having an office layout suitable for today's smaller equipment. Law offices more than a decade old probably have obsolete layouts. After all, personal computers are much smaller than the older mainframes and electronic communication obviates the need for a library to be centrally located. The ease of such communication also makes lawyers less tied to their physical offices.
