Tombstones: the Internet's impact upon SEC rules of engagement

Article Abstract:

The SEC's Enforcement Division has changed its securities fraud enforcement tactics to deal with developments such as the Internet. The Internet has opened up new means of securities fraud, such as setting up phony Web pages or spamming email programs. The SEC must track these down, plus false information regarding corporations and investments. Complaints and tips from the public provide many leads for the SEC to securities fraud via the Internet.
