Toward a jurisprudence of youth violence

Article Abstract:

Comprehensive legal and social strategies of dealing with juvenile delinquents are discussed. The article justifies different correctional laws for violent youths, and encourages the creation of youth crime policies that address homicide cases, firearms use, and effective rehabilitation strategies.

Research suggests an adjustment in the management of public school systems can reduce the number of violent crimes perpetrated by students. Issues concerning students' poverty and the effects of inner city life are addressed, and the need for community outreach programs is emphasized.
