Learning curve: ABA uses technology to make continuing legal education more available to members

Article Abstract:

The ABA Center for Continuing Legal Education provides numerous sites for continuing education, including its monthly ABA Connection teleconference. ABA Connection's specific outreach is to small-firm attorneys, sole practitioners, legal services workers, women lawyers, rural area attorneys, and others in underserved areas of the profession. The CLE Now! program offered via the Internet is another innovative program. A list of available programs and seminars is provided.

Professional finger-pointing; in analyzing high-profile cases, panelists vent frustrations with each other

Article Abstract:

A program on the tribulations of trying high-profile cases was co-hosted at the ABA's 1998 Mid-Year Meeting by the ABA National Conference of Lawyers and Representatives of the Media and the Freedom Forum's First Amendment Center. Well known attorneys and judges attending included Hiller B. Zobel, the trial judge who precided over the 1997 Massachusetts murder trial of au pair Louise Woodward and William H. Ginsburg, of Monica Lewinsky fame.
