Internet business method patents - the Federal Circuit vacates the preliminary injunction in Amazon.com v. Barnesandnoble.com

Article Abstract:

The author reviews the legal status of business method patents through State Street Bank and Trust Co. v. Signature Financial Group and Amazon.com v. Barnesandnoble.com, two cases from the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. She also examines the draft Business Method Patent Improvement Act of 2000.

The erosion of American copyright protection: the Fairness in Music Licensing Act

Article Abstract:

The Fairness in Music Licensing Act of 1998 removes some of the licensing requirements on restaurants and other small businesses using radio transmissions in their establishment. This is unfair to song writers and contrary to copyright law's purpose of encouraging creativity.
