Optimal bundling strategy for digital information goods: network delivery of articles and subscriptions
Article Abstract:
The key factors that determine the optimal bundling strategy for digital information goods have been studied through an N-good bundling model. Results indicate that pure unbundling is superior to pure bundling, even in the presence of some degree of economies of scale, when consumers patronize only a subset of the bundle components. This finding should encourage academic journal publishers to offer individual articles and journal subscriptions via the Internet.
