The regulation of the Internet encryption technologies: separating the wheat from the chaff

Efforts of the federal government to regulate Internet encryption technologies are discussed. Topics include the technology of digital encryption, legal challenges to government restrictions on the use of encryption source code, and methods of avoiding export controls on encryption.

Big brother is at your back door: an examination of the effect of encryption regulation on privacy and crime

The author reviews the proposed Cyberspace Electronic Security Act. She argues that in its current form it would be a violation of privacy and would damage electronic commerce by allowing government access to data encryption codes.
