A previously unknown 'Ordo Prophetarum' in a manuscript fragment in Zagreb

Article Abstract:

A unique version of the medieval music-drama 'Ordo Prophetarum' has been discovered in the Metropolitanski Archiv in Zagreb, Yugoslavia. The music notation of the piece dates from the early 13th or late 12th century. The fragment proves that there was more than one tradition of composition of this music-drama, and that medieval music-dramas in general did not develop in a single historical progression.

Code-switching in Medieval English drama

Article Abstract:

The sociolinguistic concept of code switching is utilized to analyze medieval English drama. Code switching in medieval English drama involves switching to a different language, usually Latin, but sometimes French or Hebrew. Such variations in languages can serve slightly different meaning and can be made to work against itself to create entirely different meanings for the audience.
