Ban on broadcast advertising for casinos is constitutional

Article Abstract:

The US 5th Circuit Court of Appeals decided in Greater New Orleans Broadcasting Ass'n v. United States that television and radio stations could not advertise for casinos. The US Supreme Court remanded the case, based on its decision in 44 Liquormart Inc. v. Rhode Island, which overturned a prohibition on advertising liquor sale prices. The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that casino advertising influenced consumer demand more than advertising liquor prices but noted the US Supreme Court was not clear on what actions directly advance government interest.
