Staging 'L'Omme Pecheur' and 'The Castle of Perseverance.'

Article Abstract:

Similarities in the staging of the medieval morality plays 'L'Omme Pecheur' and 'The Castle of Perseverance' include the use of large open performance space, several multileveled scaffolds to display different scenes, and music. The English play predates the French, though both are from the fifteenth century. Both plays were designed to accommodate audiences numbering over 5,000, and both may have taken more than one day to perform. Acting techniques for these plays may have been similar.

A proposal for a theater museum: staging the fragments of Greek and Roman drama

Article Abstract:

A theater museum can function as the center for accumulating ancient theatrical pieces and facilitate the reconstruction of Greek and Roman tragedy. A theater museum implies any place where two or more actor-scholars will endeavor to reconstruct Greek and Roman drama from surviving fragments. The texts to be reconstructed, the production procedures, and the ways through which a theater museum of this kind would contribute to the Classics are invaluable.
