The hypersonic skyhook

Article Abstract:

Scientists have proposed skyhooks, which could catapult objects into space, since 1960, but the strong materials to build a functioning model are not available. A hypersonic skyhook would be possible because it would orbit closer to Earth. Equations are provided.
