A voice from the heartland alive and well, thank you

Article Abstract:

Publishing and syndication firm Universal Press Syndicate moves its operations to Kansas, KS. Despite skepticism from the New York-based publishing community, John P. McMeel and Jim Andrews have achieved success outside of the mainstream industry. A string of successful syndicated and published works attest to their accomplishments. Working in an environment distant from the rest has helped the company develop unorthodox but effective methods for achieving success.

Books by the number

Article Abstract:

Book publishing, sales and production has risen dramatically since the 1950s. New developments in the information age have hardly put a dent on the saleability of books. In spite of popular perceptions which view books as outdated concepts, the popularity of books still remains. However, the type of books which are popular with the public are not of an academic variety. This in turn raises doubts as to the quality of books nowadays.

For books, another brave new world

Article Abstract:

Developments in the information age may soon render books obsolete and even non-existent. However, books are only a medium for information and even if they do disappear completely, the people behind their production, namely writers and publishers, will continue to exist. Readers would still be provided with the literary works once found in books, but now through an entirely different communication medium.
