BBC has signed up for a second series of City Central, its new police drama shown every Saturday, 8 pm on BBC1. The second run, which is scheduled to be filmed starting September 1998, will be a continuation of the first run's 10x50 episodes that began running on BBC1 in April 1998. The second series will use the original production team and cast with Paul Nicholls, former EastEnders heart-throb, as the lead actor. BBC's head of drama series, Mal Young, will continue to oversee and executive produce City Central's second run, which is expected to be on air by spring 1999.
