FHM show set to air on Channel 5

Article Abstract:

Emap Metro, publisher of "Broadcast," has been contracted by Channel 5 (C5) for the production of a 60-minute TV special based on "FHM," the current top-selling men's monthly magazine in the UK. The special, which will soon begin filming and is expected to air in a peaktime slot in the autumn of 1998, will cover "FHM" topics such as sex, travel and technology. A series will follow if the special is successful. The deal has been negotiated by Michael Attwell, C5's controller of features and arts, and Phil Thomas, executive publishing editor of Emap Metro.

RA to come clean on licence awards

Article Abstract:

The regulatory body for commercial radio, Radio Authority (RA), is planning to reveal the reasons behinds its licence awards. According to RA Chief Executive Tony Stoller, the authority is likely to issue a four to five-page document outlining the reasons for license wards as soon as possible after the decisions are taken. RA is reportedly instituting the policy shift as part of a major overhaul of the regulatory body and in the light of growing maturity of the industry. RA is also considering to relax the performance rulings imposed on stations.
