Time season starts BBC 2 millennium

Article Abstract:

BBC 2 will be launching the set of programs for the new millennium under the theme of Time by January 1999. The new season will include a drama program titled Longitude, a television version of the novel of the same title by Dava Sobel, and a trilogy titled Shooting the Past. BBC 2 will also offer a 4 x 50-minute documentary titled Century Road, contributions from BBC science including three Horizon specials, and a series of 10-minute short shows. The Horizon specials are A Sense of Time, Suspended in Time and Beginning of Time.

Shaps calls on Network Centre to increase its multi-cultural output

Article Abstract:

ITV programming officials are calling for ITV companies or the Network Centre to produce more multi-cultural programming because apparently there is a rising cultural diversity within the majority of its viewers. Simon Shaps, the programs director of Granada Productions, said the new ITV controller of comedy should realize the change of viewership and the need to serve them. Shaps suggests the strengthening of alliances between industry creatives that could produce multi-cultural programming from all cultural groups.
