Constructing history

Article Abstract:

Some steps involved in the production of the Discovery Channel documentary eVirtual History: The Secret Plot to Kill HitlerE are described. The documentary recreates the events on 20 July 1944 with CG (computer graphic) faces of Churchill, Hitler, Roosevelt and Stalin transplanted on the heads of actors. The documentary was shot on 16 mm film, and the digital composites were doctored to create a virtual archive footage. This footage was intercut with biographers of the four leaders talking to the camera and was the backbone of the documentary.
