Disney rebuilding its Euro operation

Disney's European and UK operations are set to be restructured in line with internation streamlining within the Disney corporation. It comes after Disney/ABC combined its production operations in the US. Key appointment since the beginning of this year have streamlined Disney's international activities. Walt Disney International president Roger Iger, also president of the ABC Group, announced last week that Walt Disney TV Studio, including Buena Vista Television Productions and Touchtone Producitons, would merge sith ABC'c primetime production division.

Virgin Media's new kid on the box

Article Abstract:

Virgin Media's television channel, Virgin 1, is to be launched on Freeview in autumn. Virgin's director of programming Celia Taylor believes the channel will be pitted against ITV2 and E4 rather than Sky One. But Sky questions this free-to-air channel launching when Virgin also has its pay-TV service. Some television programmes to be shown in Virgin 1 are presented.
