Doing it my way - broadcasting regulation in capitalist cultures: the case of 'fairness' and 'impartiality.'

Article Abstract:

A longer-term perspective on the studies of media is required, including state intervention in broadcasting regulation. Two examples of very different approaches to this regulation are the suspension of the Fairness Doctrine in the US and the instatement of the practice of impartiality in Great Britain.

The controls placed on television programs for children in the United States, Australia and Canada are compared. The influence of increasing globalism on theses policies is also examined.
