Dormand to resolve BBC News row

Article Abstract:

BBC News' general manager for technology and production services, Neil Dormand, has been appointed by Tony Hall, who is the CEO of BBC News, to come up with solutions to the continuing technical problems at the News Centre. Hall requested Dormand to drop some of the latter's responsibilities in order for Dormand to have direct supervision of finding ways to resolve technical problems at the center. In addition, Dormand will supervise the launching of all new systems and technology. In order to ensure smooth operation of the new technology, additional back-up staff had been named.

BBC offsets cricket loss with athletics

Article Abstract:

BBC has secured live rights for all major athletic meets in the UK including the Olympic Games trials and the British Grand Prix, from the UK Athletics 98. Apparently, BBC obtained the five-year athletic rights over Channel 4 (C4), which on the other hand won the deal for the Test cricket rights that was formerly held by BBC. The athletic deal has triggered verbal disputes between BBC and C4. BBC Director of Television Alan Yentob expects athletics to be more popular than cricket while athletics fills the gap left by the cricket.

BBC hits back at 'fake' allegations

Article Abstract:

BBC executives are counterattacking allegations by a number of national newspapers that its docusoap "The Clampers" is a fake. The docusoap's executive producer, Stephen Lambert, disclaims the allegations, saying that the accusers are merely hitting on documentaries. The company is taking legal advice on actions toward the accusations. The people responsible for the program are asking those who made the allegations to apologize and retract their statements on the newspapers involved.
