Emery abroad

Article Abstract:

BBC Worldwide TV is the commercial arm of the British Broadcasting Corporation Ltd., but its success in the world market has been mixed. Managing director Dick Emery hopes that all this will change following an agreement with American cable company Tele-Communications (TCI) Inc.. It is thought that TCI may invest up to $1 billion in the new venture, which will include the launch of eight pay-TV channels in the UK. In a separate deal, BBC Worldwide is teaming up with Discovery Communications to launch three new channels in markets including the US and Latin America.
