Factoring in reality gives ITV1 the edge over BBC1

Article Abstract:

BBC1 and combined multi channels traded places this week with 25% compared to the combined multi channel share of 27.5%, while last year's figures were 25.7% for BBC1 and the combined multi channel share was 23.5%. Reality is the new mantra for channels as Sky One's The Match totted up 1.8 million viewers. The X Factor selection show on ITV1 enjoyed the highest ever viewership figures with 31% against BBC1's 23%. BBC1 countered with a tally of 8 million viewers watching Himalaya. The Farm, a reality show on Five, attracted 1.7 million viewers and held on to that rank through the week.

Comic Relief night gives BBC 1 last laugh on Friday

BBC 1's charity television special Comic Relief won the primetime ratings race on Friday with a 49 per cent market share. The network's other programs continue to deliver good ratings, particularly 'EastEnders' on Monday nights.
