Greg Dyke, the current director general at the BBC, has challenged the claim of former director general, Alasdair Milne, who states that he was the last director general that oversaw an era of creative excellence at its best. Milne's management with the BBC saw the emergence of the shows EastEnders and The Singing Detective, and the network setting the standard for the television industry.

Where next for BBC2?

The past few years have seen a remarkable change in BBC2's programming strategy, with an increased focus on arts and documentaries. Despite growing competition from other channels, as well as digital expansion, the channel has continued to attract viewers with its innovative programs.
