Sprouting cash

Article Abstract:

Independent television production companies are expanding into Europe as a reaction against the decline in commissions from the UK domestic market. Subsides and governmental funding for film and television projects are available in Europe. Some observers suggest that independent producers should use overseas broadcasters to assist in the search for new funding. Loans of around 50% of the total production costs can be obtained through an initiative by the European Union called Media II. The scheme has some 248 million pounds sterling to award for projects in the audio-visual sector.
