Good sport

Article Abstract:

Jeff Foulser, a veteran TV sports producer aged 44, is the managing director of television production company Sunset and Vine Productions (S+V). Foulser took the position following the company's merger with Molinaire in January 1996 to form The TV Corporation. He aims to reduce S+V's reliance on a sponsorship deal with Gillette which brings in a profit of 700,000 pounds sterling over two years. It is expected that S+V's production business will reach some 7 million pounds sterling in 1997, up 50% from 1996. The company plans to expand its sports, music and children's programming coverage.

Trading blows

Article Abstract:

Pact, the alliance for UK television programme producers, is exercising its right to review the Feb 1997 agreement setting down terms of trade for the BBC's work with independent producers. There are claims from independent producers that the BBC has deliberately worked to cause the terms of trade to collapse, while the BBC believes that independent producers have been too unrealistic about what the agreement would bring. Independents are keen to stress that they are not in conflict with the people with whom they deal editorially at BBC Broadcast.

Global runner

Article Abstract:

API Television is seeking potential partners for expansion, rather than a purchaser, according to Adrian Metcalfe, its new chairman. It hopes to expand internationally through exploiting contacts and opportunities presented by the work of parent company The Sponsorship Group. It is particularly seeking to add value to sports production in markets including the Far East and South Africa.
