ITC offers 20 new RSL licences

Article Abstract:

The Independent Television Commission (ITC) has reported that six applicants are competing for three contested Restricted Service Licences (RSL) in Birmingham. Seventeen other RSLs have been identified by the ITC as uncontested frequencies. The regulator likewise announced that it was not able to locate new frequencies for 16 RSLs that include parts of the City of London, Cardiff, Newcastle, Bradford and Belfast. A spokesman for the ITC said that the commission will award the contested RSLs to those that can offer the most service for viewers.

News Centre puts off bi-media aims

Article Abstract:

BBC News Centre has announced it will suspend the implementation of bi-media working practices in its operations for five months after television producers voice out their oppositions over the plan. Producers of TV news said they will not participate in the bi-media pilot versions of BBC News Centre's One, Six and Nine O'clock News. Producers' opposition persisted despite receiving assurances regarding work conditions from BBC News Centre after the latter failed to cut down the total number of hours that producers will be required to work.
