Article Abstract:

ITV plc divided its business into three divisions, in February 2004, and Clive Jones was appointed as the chief executive of ITV's news operation with the responsibility for national, regional, international news and cost cutting drive. It is expected that with many modernizing changes in ITV's Nottingham based news-gathering operation, many staff, trade unions and management, at ITV may loose their jobs.

Two-headed monster

Article Abstract:

The BBC implemented its double-tick commissioning system a year ago, and executives say it has been an improvement while programming producers argue that ideas are discarded more often than they were before. The old system was based on channel controllers, who commissioned programs in commissioning rounds that were held two times a year.

Over 65s failed by multichannel

Article Abstract:

Targeting television viewers over age 65 may be a means of helping broadcasters, as such viewers are the largest consumers of television. In addition, demographic studies indicate that the older an age group is, the less likely it is to change over to competing attractions offered by multichannels.
