Talent agents are powerful figures in the world of television broadcasting, because programmes will not succeed without talented professionals. Talent agents need to be experienced business people, who have an eye for talent, which can be nurtured and encouraged. UK agents are beginning to become more involved in the whole packaging process of putting together a deal for their clients. US agents are very good at ensuring lucrative payment deals for their clients.

A shift in the balance of power

It is too early for indies to celebrate the approval of new codes of practice by Ofcom. Although it would primarily benefit producers and broadcasters but there may be some things to think about after the detailed terms are agreed upon.
