Issues concerning the effectiveness of preventing gender discrimination in the workplace during the 1980s and early 1990s are examined, focusing on a study that compares practices in the UK with practices in Denmark. Topics include examination of policies in the BBC, Radio Denmark, and the role of government in preventing discrimination.

Labour flexibility in the UK commercial television sector

Article Abstract:

Commercial television in the United Kingdom during the 1980s to 1996 practiced a number of internal and external labor flexibility measures designed to influence the performance of the labor market. However, labor shortages and rising pay rates have developed in the companies and the television sector as a consequence of these practices.
