Making sense of classics

Article Abstract:

BBC's period drama adaptation of "Sense and Sensibility" was able to provide something fresh that would apppeal to the modern audience. Screenwriter Andrew Davies, who wrote the new TV version of "Sense and Sensibility", added new twists to the classic tale. The making of the program and other classic adaptations on TV are discussed.

BBC and other channels are targeting the over 50s in their programming, as the feeling is that most of the programmes are pro-young, thus ignoring the older generation. However the market has now realized their importance, in terms of being cash rich and thus is targeting both their advertisements as well as programmes for them.
