NTL plans 25 million pounds sterling play-out centre

Article Abstract:

After its acquisition of Scanners TV, NTL has been expanding its broadcast division facilities. The latest expansion, announced at the National Association of Broadcasters convention, will nearly double the size of its digital play-out center.

Digital difficulties

Article Abstract:

BSkyB has decided to switch from its analog satellite service this fall, as one of the main benefits of digital television to analog is the efficiency of digital buffers taking up less airwave space. The Independent Television Commission has put the idea in place of reorganizing digital bandwith, leaving 10% available at the top and bottom of the UHF spectrum.
