New faces of British buying

Article Abstract:

Controller of program acquisitions, June Dromgoole, is expected to represent Channel 4 at Mipcom 1998. Dromgoole is responsible for purchasing for Channel 4 and also the coming digital pay-TV film service Film Four, which is expected to be launched in November 1998. Feature films, television films and primetime series are top of Dromgoole's shopping list. An overview of who will represent other television networks at Mipcom is included.

The 240,000 pound sterling 'Building a Global Audience' report from David Graham Associates is due to be released in November 1998. The report was funded by a variety of major players in the television industry along with the government. The report aims to identify European attitudes to British television programs. Europe accounts for 50% of British television programme exports.

MIP-TV is expected to be the focus of attention at Cannes. ITEL, the Anglia and HBO joint owned programme sales arm, believes natural history programming will be as popular at Cannes as at MIPCOM in October. HIT Entertainment was successful at MIPCOM with natural history programming particularly popular.
