Article Abstract:

Journalism as a profession is getting riskier than ever, with 89 journalists of which 54 in Iraq getting killed on assignment. Freelancers are at greater risk than staffers, yet they manage to capture many frontline images of our time. The Rory Peck awards honour the very best of TV journalism and reflect the commitment to the kind of stories that make us want to become journalists in the first place.
