Berlusconi sells despite his high-profile No Vote

Article Abstract:

In a recent referendum on media ownership in Italy, the majority of voters rejected proposals which would have forced media magnate Silvio Berlusconi to sell off two of the three televisions networks owned by his Fininvest group. However, he has announced that he will still be going ahead with the sale of a majority stake in his television interests. Voters also rejected proposals which would have reduced the amount of commercial breaks permitted during televised films and limited to two the number of stations which can be represented by a single airtime sales house.
