Requiem for 'The Boys on the Bus.' (male news reporters at work)

Article Abstract:

A woman news reporter laments the end of the era of political reporting by male reporters, as characterized in the 1970s in 'The Boys on the Bus' by Timothy Crouse. She castigates present day male reporters of spoiling the happy field life of political reporters by their preoccupations with home and family. She says it is more enjoyable to report political campaigns in the company of women reporters from other dailies than men who display unprofessionalistic attitude.

Japan follows the flag

Article Abstract:

The US media has strongly influenced the Japanese since the end of World War II. Japanese journalists obtain most of their news from the American media which they report to the public, politicians, executives and bureaucrats. The Japanese confidence in US media is attributed to American journalists' ability to uphold democracy, their constant demand for reforms, and their confidence in their opinions and actions.

A consumer's guide to media truth

Article Abstract:

Media consumers should judge the news in an objective manner and look out for the truth of the news. Consumers should be wary of such typical works as 'claims' and 'alleges' and be careful when reading news from unnamed sources. News should be taken seriously and consumers should learn to separate truth from fiction.
