Safe hands

Article Abstract:

It is generally best to undertake change in an evolutionary way, rather than all at once, according to 'Channel 4 News' editor Sara Nathan. This programme has gained considerable respect, but saw falling viewer numbers in the first quarter of 1997. Nathan believes that this is largely attributable to the fact that viewers became bored by the general election. It is possible that Michael Jackson, who is shortly to become chief executive of Channel 4, will demand significant changes to the format of 'Channel 4 News.' This possibility is welcomed by Nathan.
