UK media secretary Chris Smith tries to encourage retailers, broadcasters and manufacturers to step up consumer acceptance of digital TV by offering incentives, such as free set-top boxes. The digital TV from analogue switch is expected to occur in 2006. In order to meet consumer demand, Digital One and the BBC are working together to forge ties with manufacturers.
