Staying animated

Article Abstract:

Producers of UK children's shows face budget cuts and fewer commissions from broadcasters, yet the distribution of kids TV shows are performing well with a high demand from international kids TV channels. An increasing number of distribution partners and strong international markets give established and new players a way to continue production. Producing kids TV shows for the internet and digital television is also discussed.

New players on the Croisette

Article Abstract:

The 2007 Mipcom will welcome a new generation of powerful UK distributors, resulted from the ongoing consolidation in the television broadcasting industry. These new companies include Digital Rights Group which is buying Channel 4 International, NBDtv which was bought by DCD Media, and Zodiak World which acquired Bullseye TV. Other acquisition deals are also discussed.

Wilson's last pitch: a one-hour TV special on the rise of punk

Tony Wilson, founder of Factory Records and former TV presenter, was planning a one-hour TV special describing the rise of punk music when he died at the age of 57. A two-page document he made just before his death outlines his plans for the TV special.
