One year of Dyke's rule

Article Abstract:

Greg Dyke's first year as BBC director general has been a disappointment to independent producers and broadcasters. Measurable indicators of his management are not yet available, as the move of the Nine O'clock News to 22.00 has shown only short term success and his attempts to improve BBC 1 have not had enough time to develop.

A hard act to follow

Article Abstract:

He feels that his leadership of the BBC was inspirational and that his successor will need to build on his creative legacy while addressing the issues raised by Hutton.
