The discourse of global compassion: the audience and media reporting of human suffering

Article Abstract:

The issues about the human suffering and misery addressed in the media reports does not get substantial amount of academic attention. The global discourse of compassion has elongated and is formed at a point where the politics, organizations working for humanity, media and the general public meet, moreover the function performed by the humanitarian organizations is gaining a lot of importance since it fights the crimes against humanity.

'Impossible is a fact': Greek nationalism and international recognition in Euro 2004

Article Abstract:

Study is presented which explores the way in which the 'nation' is discussed in the press by looking at the Greek newspaper commentary following the victory of the Greek football team in Euro 2004 tournament. The role of international praise or criticism in the promotion of a Greek political agenda abroad is examined.
