The talk of the toon

October 2000 marks the fifth year of the Disney Channel in the UK. Disney is starting up three new channels to target specific 'zones' of the children and family market. One of the channels, Toon Disney, will provide a dedicated outlet for the company's huge inventory of world famous animation.

Sci Fi Channel announced a new on-air identity and a change of programming strategy as part of a makeover budgeted at pounds sterling two million. Dan Marks, president of the channel, has had a varied career as a documentary filmmaker, and in setting up a private national TV station in Russia.
