Winning formula?

Article Abstract:

The success of the National Lottery in the UK has prompted a new midweek draw which begins in February 1997. However, the National Lottery Live event on Saturday prime time BBC television has not experienced the massive audience figures hoped for by program schedulers. It was forecast that more than 20 million viewers would watch the 15-minute event, but audience figures have declined since the first program in November 1994, falling to an average of 12 million.

The last picture show

Article Abstract:

The interest of the UK public in television films appears to be falling. This could be because there are too many repeats or because tastes are changing. The most popular television films tend to be comedies or films for children. Very few films are made in the UK, but UK actors accounted for around 10% of stars in the top fifty films in 1992-1993 and 1993-1994.
