Article Abstract:

Earnings inequality trends of full-time, full year workers in the Current Population Survey (CPS) for 1975-2001 is examined provided a more time consistent method of correcting for changes in the impact of top coding in the public-use data. It was concluded that controlling further spike in 1992, the generalized beta distribution of the second kind (GB2) and the time consistent gini series have the same time trend for the entire 1975-2001 period.
