The new revolution: intranets, not Internet

Article Abstract:

An information revolution is taking place as an offshoot to Internet technology. Intranets, with features akin to the internet are now making changes in the creation, generation, processing, reception and dissemination of information in organizations. Intranets have varied uses, inclusive of production and inventory control. Maximization of the use of intranets results in increased cost-efficiency, enhanced internal communication, organizational effectiveness, improved quality and timeliness of internal communications and increased responsiveness to organizational needs.

The Y2K problem: Internet resources for manufacturers

Article Abstract:

The Internet offers valuable information regarding the year 2000 (Y2K) problem in which computers will interpret the year 2000 as 1900. Aside from the problem itself, the Internet offers information regarding sample project plans, testing procedures, compliance checks, validation templates, software patches and solution providers. In terms of awareness, manufacturing professionals can visit a site maintained by Peter de Jager that tackles the Y2K problem comprehensively.
