A new horizon in sight

Article Abstract:

The defense minister of France, Italy and the United Kingdom met in Washington and agreed to adopt a joint solution of their navies' future anti-air warfare (AAW) requirements and marked the final demise of the trinational Project Horizon with its associated effort to develop a Common New Generation Frigate (CNGF). The three countries will build on the trinational project work to pursue opportunities for co-operative procurement in equipping these vessels.

UK develops advanced IRST demonstrator

Article Abstract:

QinetiQ and Thales Optronics will deliver an advanced infrared search-and-track (IRST) demonstrator system to the UK Ministry of Defense (MoD) in late 2004, after integration and initial testing. Director Equipment Capability (Above Water Battlespace) DEC (AWB) is funding the Advanced IRST ARTD (applied research technology demonstrator) through the MoD's Research Competition Pilot Cell.

UK DLO awards first refit contracts under revised alliance upkeep plan

Article Abstract:

The UK Defense Logistics Organization (DLO) presents an initial three-warship refit contract under revised Surface Ship Support Alliance (SSSA) arrangements. It forms a part of a five-ship package, collectively valued at more than GBP31 million (USD58 million), of refit work due to begin in late 2006.
