NATO moves on sealift shortfall

Article Abstract:

NATO has identified a shortfall in the military sealift capability for its rapid deployment forces equivalent to 12-14 medium-size ro-ro vessels. Hence, NATO's Maintenance and Supply Agency (NAMSA) has issued a Request For Proposals (RFP) to the commercial shipping market, seeking offers for the assured availability of suitable vessels to service strategic sealift requirements.

Hellenic Navy hones its Aegean strike force

Article Abstract:

VT Shipbuilding has sourced steering and ride control systems from within its own marine products portfolio to meet the Hellenic Navy's requirement for good sea keeping performance. The steering system is a variant of VT Marine Products' 900 series, while US-based subsidiary VT Maritime Dynamics Inc has supplied a 300 series active fin stabilizer system.

Rolls-Royce wins NATO submarine rescue contract

Article Abstract:

A team led by Rolls Royce Naval Marine is selected to lead the design and manufacture phase of the three-nation NATO Submarine Rescue System (NSRS) programme, contractor-operated deal worth pounds sterling 47 million. Operations that are to be undertaken under this contract are discussed.
