Belgian baron Paul Buyesse has been appointed chairman of British defense and engineering firm Vickers PLC. Buyesse attributed his appointment as head of Vickers due to his experience as an international executive and his track record as an turnaround specialist. Due to Vickers' financial problems, Buyesse indicated that he would lessen overhead, improve profitability, streamline and reduce the firm's payroll by over 20%.

Irish and British agencies seize alleged Provisional IRA assets

Article Abstract:

The authorities of the United Kingdom (UK) and Republic of Ireland criminal assets recovery agencies are working together to seize proceeds of crime allegedly linked to member of the Provisional Irish Republican Army (PIRA). The PIRA is alleged to have carried out the Northern Bank robbery in Belfast in December 2004 that netted GBP 26.5 million.

SOCA, so good?

Article Abstract:

The UK law enforcement agency, Serious Organized Crime Agency (SOCA) was established in April 2006 to reduce organized crimes. The agency could intercept weapons that were being smuggled into the country and was able to identify change in trends of organized crimes which can help in tackling them.
