A sampling of unmanned aerial and remotely piloted vehicles

Article Abstract:

A recent survey tabulated the numerous aspects and properties of several remotely-piloted vehicles (RPVs) and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from different manufacturers. It is noted that UAV systems concentrate on reconnaissance, battle management, surveillance target acquisition/targeting and battle-damage assessment missions, and that they are distinctly different from RPVs, in that they function autonomously, and without requiring real-time remote guidance. Among the many UAVs and RPVs featured in the survey are the Vulture from Advanced Technologies and Engineering Co.; MQM-107E and QF-4 from Tracor Aerospace Flight Systems Div.; DarkStar from Lockheed Martin/Boeing Defense and Space Grp.; Global Hawk from Teledyne Ryan; and Searcher MkII from Israel Aircraft Industries Ltd.

A sampling of SIGINT systems

Article Abstract:

The field of signals intelligence systems is partially composed of telemetry intelligence, electronic intelligence, and communications intelligence. Data from these systems should be released quickly to real-time combatants rather than hidden away for security reasons. Andrew Sci Comm of Garland, TX, manufactures the SCR-2940DF, SCR-2900DF, SCR 2940 TMS signals intelligence systems. Dassault Electronique of Saint-Cloud, France, produces the MADER, EWS-16, and Digit signals intelligence systems. C. Plath GmbH of Germany makes the DFP 5300 signals intelligence system.
