Australian MoD plans to increase RAN acquisition funding

Article Abstract:

The Australian government has planned to increase the forward funding by further A$2 billion that is to be utilized for Royal Australian Navy's (RAN's), Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) and Landing Platform Helicopter (LPH) programs which are the components of the new 10 year Defense Capability Plan (DCP) specified on 4th February 2004. The DCP also specifies that major restructuring will be required in the planning of RAN's Project Sea 1442 Maritime Communications and Information Architecture.

The Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) is responsible for land and ocean shipments moving worldwide where it carries the cargo from military trucks to ammunition, from humanitarian supplies to household goods. SDDC's success in deploying and sustaining more than 90 percent of the Defense Department's equipment and supplies is achieved by leveraging the capability of commercial industry and other military services.

Dutch navy suffers painful contractions

Article Abstract:

Royal Netherlands Navy is in a state of major change in late 2003, involving a series of wide-ranging cost-saving and defense transformation measures. The effect of this contraction on the planned formation of a third Royal Netherlands Marine Corps (RNLMC) infantry battalion is discussed.
